A person has sadly died after being hit by a train in Nottinghamshire. Officers were called to a line in Chilwell at 7.21pm on Tuesday, November 22, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. British Transport Police has said that officers are working to establish the full circumstances behind the death and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
East Midlands Railway (EMR) confirmed that a person had been hit by a train on the evening of November 22; reporting that the incident took place between Nottingham Station and East Midlands Parkway. Nottingham, Newark Castle services were disrupted, as well as routes in London, Crewe, Leicester, Lincoln and Grimsby.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Chilwell at 7.21pm last night (November 22) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are working to establish the full circumstances behind their death and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
