Multiple railway services were affected including Great Western Railway passengers travelling between London Padding and Bristol temple meads stations.
Railway bosses warned travellers that services may be cancelled, with delays of more than 30mins for trains and disruptions aspected to last until 9.00 am. However, all lines have since reopened and services have resumed as normal.
According to the National Railway site, customers may be entitled to compensation if their journeys were affected. They are advised to keep their tickets in order to make a claim.
