Pep Guardiola gives Jack Grealish message to all Man City stars

Pep Guardiola enjoys pushing all Manchester City stars to improve as Jack Grealish looks to improve his consistency at the Etihad.

City's £100m signing comes up against his former coach when they visit Dean Smith's Norwich on Saturday, and the Canaries boss has spoken ahead of the game about how Grealish has always gone out of his way to try to get better as a footballer.

The price tag he commanded in summer suggests the 26-year-old has managed pretty well to date but being thrown into a very specific way of playing and trying to improve a squad that came within three games of a Quadruple last season has not been without its difficulties for the former Villa captain.

Grealish has yet to see his City career ignite but has kept the faith of Guardiola throughout, who has appreciated his efforts enough to keep playing him regularly. There is certainly room for the player to improve, but nobody at the Etihad is allowed to get complacent or stop working on their game.

"No one knows Jack better than Dean and I completely agree with him," said Guardiola. "He plays good when he plays. He helps us to be in the position that we are in right now in important competitions. He plays at a high level.

"He had one life in Birmingham and now he comes here and needs time but the way he played he played really well being wider or in more central positions. I always try to push them all - not just Jack but even Fernandinho who has been here since the first day - to improve this, improve that.

"It is the best way to wake up in the morning, go to the training centre and think of something that you can do better."
