Pep Guardiola lamented the inability of his side to score more against Burnley after an impressive 2-0 win.
The Manchester City boss was delighted with the way his side returned from the international break given there is always uncertainty over the condition and rhythm they will come back in. City kept Burnley at arm's length throughout the match but missed the opportunity to add to their two first-half goals; Nick Pope made a couple of good saves, while substitute Gabriel Jesus hit the post and then saw his follow-up go wide towards the end of the game.
Their three points took them back to the top of the Premier League table following Liverpool's lunchtime win against Watford. However, Jurgen Klopp's side have a better goal difference with +57 compared to City's +52. Guardiola wants to leave nothing to chance as his team aim to defend their title.
