Pep Guardiola details Man City's title celebrations - "We drank all the alcohol"

Pep Guardiola revealed his side “drank all the alcohol in Manchester” in an effort to toast their latest title triumph.

Manchester City were confirmed as the Premier League champions last weekend, with their celebrations kicking off in earnest following their victory over Chelsea. After edging past the Blues at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola’s side lifted the trophy.

Celebrations continued throughout into the early hours of Monday morning as the vast majority of the squad headed to swanky Manchester club MNKY HSE. Erling Haaland arrived there wearing sky blue silk pyjamas and then got behind the grill to cook a steak, whilst Kyle Walker elected to sing an anti-Manchester United chant.

Following his side’s 1-1 draw with Brighton on Wednesday, boss Guardiola gave another insight into the party and suggested that there was nothing left to drink in Manchester once his squad was finished. He also praised his side for his professionalism at the AMEX Stadium.

"Exceptional game,” the Spaniard said. “Congratulations to Brighton for their deserved qualification to the Europa League.

"The game we played, 48 hours after we drank all the alcohol in Manchester, 48 hours later we behaved and we showed why we were the champions against that team.

"We showed what we have done with and without the ball. I didn't see one drop in our intensity and idea. They had chances, we had chances, we scored a goal, they scored a goal.

"Both teams want the ball, both teams want to press. The keepers are fundamental in this game. The quality they have, they are an exceptional team."

The draw on the south coast brought City’s 12-match winning run to an end, with now just one game of the Premier League season set to play. Guardiola’s side will then divert their attention to their attempts to lift an historic treble.

Asked if the clash with Brighton was a good test ahead of both the Champions League and FA Cup finals, he replied: "It was absolutely, this time Brighton, they destroy the other opponents they have been playing. They did it in certain moments, especially the last 10 or 15 minutes, we struggled but we did really well.

"We cannot drop momentum. I didn't see it, against Chelsea I didn't see it today. During the week we have to rest, recover mentally.

“It's been demanding for the past six months playing Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and chasing Arsenal. The training now is just relaxed.”

City round off their Premier League campaign against Brentford away from home before taking on fierce rivals Man United in the FA Cup final. They then clash with Italian giants Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
