A car was found partly submerged in the sea at a beach in Gower in the early hours of Sunday morning, with its occupants still in the water. Mumbles Coastguard was paged at 3.41am to investigate the incident at Caswell Bay, one of the city's most popular beauty spots. The people with the Volkswagen Golf were brought to safety by rescue officers.
The incident has prompted the coastguard to issue a warning to the public that there is no access to the beach for non emergency services vehicles. Those involved were given safety advice. An initial warning was also issued for people to stay away from the vehicle as it "posed a hazard", but it has since been recovered.

A statement from Mumbles Coastguard read: "We were paged at 3.41am to investigate a vehicle on the beach at Caswell. We arrived on scene to a partially submerged Volkswagen Golf. Persons were immediately removed from the water by Coastguard rescue officers (safe and well) then suitable advice was given.
"We advise members of public to keep away from the vehicle as it poses a hazard until it is recovered by professionals. We remind the public that there is no access to the beach for non-emergency service vehicles." You can read more stories about Mumbles here.
