People were left stunned after a customer shared their food and drink bill after visiting an Irish pub serving the "cheapest pint of Guinness in Ireland".
Helen's Bar in Kilmackillogue, Co Kerry, has previously hit the headlines for its unbeatable prices, and it seems that even the current cost of living crisis has not affected their bargain meals.
Taking to Twitter, the customer said he enjoyed food of "the highest quality" and received a "real Irish welcome" during his visit.
He said: "Food of the highest quality at prices that are hard to beat, and a real Irish welcome. It's a long time since I paid less than €4 for a pint of Guinness too!
"Thanks to Helen and all at Helen's Bar in Kilmackilllogue, Co. Kerry for the experience! We'll definitely be back."
A picture of the bill showed the man paid for six pints of Guinness (€3.90 each), two pints of Bulmers (€4.60 each), two cans of soft drinks (€1.50 each), a coffee (€2), four desserts (€4 each), six Cod mains (€10 each), four mussel dishes (€8.50 each) and two soups (€4.50 each).
The bill came to a total of €156.60. An unheard-of price for a meal out in the current climate.
Almost 7,000 people have since liked the Tweet, with many vowing to make the journey to Kerry to experience the value for themselves.
One person said: "Its nice to see good prices and such glowing reviews as yours. We're doing a staycation this year, out of necessity- however, I suspect that we may go out of our way to pay a visit to Helen's Bar. Thanks for sharing this with us."
To which the customer, @EimhinBoland, replied: "I would 100% recommend it. Helen is a lady and her staff behind the bar (I think they could be Helen's sons) are absolute characters. It's also a B&B, I should mention. €70 per night for a double room with breakfast included, €50 for a single. Enjoy your staycation!"
Others couldn't believe the price of alcohol at the establishment.
They said: "Less than €5 for a pint bottle of cider. Long time since I've seen that."
A second said: "€4.60 for a pint bottle of Bulmers too, a long time since I've seen that for less than a fiver. Places like this deserve all the extra business this brings them."
While a third commented:" Fantastic value Credit to the the owners for not partaking in the current gouging.
