A pensioner has died after crashing his car into a bridge in the Highlands. Emergency services were scrambled to the A890 at Strathcarron, Wester Ross, on Tuesday evening.
The 79-year-old man, who was driving a Volkswagen Polo, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Police have launched a probe into the 9.05pm horror smash.
Officers locked down the road for several hours as crash investigators conducted enquiries. The force have urged anyone who was on the road around the time of the smash to get in touch.
Sergeant Alasdair MacKay said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.
"In particular, if you have dash cam equipment, please check your footage as it could hold images which would assist in our enquiries.”
