Downton Abbey actress Dame Penelope Wilton is to star as Mavis Eccleston, a woman who survived a suicide pact with her husband of nearly 60 years and was subsequently arrested and charged with his murder, in a new ITV drama.

The four-part series, named Mavis Eccleston, will also see The Crown star Sir Jonathan Pryce play her husband Dennis, with filming due to begin in Bristol later this year.
