A pedestrian has been hospitalised after a being knocked over by a bus in Sunderland city centre.
Emergency crews attended the scene on Fawcett Road, one of the major thoroughfares in Sunderland City Centre, following reports that an individual had been knocked over by a vehicle. At the scene, a pedestrian was found to have sustained head injuries.
A paramedic crew from North East Ambulance, alongside an off-duty nurse who was passing by when the incident occurred, treated the individual before they were eventually taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.

As yet, there is no word from either North East Ambulance Service or Northumbria Police on the current condition of the casualty.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police confirmed their attendance at the scene yesterday evening. He said: "We can confirm that our officers attended the scene of an RTC on Fawcett Street in Sunderland following reports that somebody had been knocked over by a bus. They attended around 17.40pm and left soon after."
A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We got a call at 5.37pm with a report of that pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a bus on Fawcett Street in Sunderland. We sent paramedic crew who treated a patient at the scene for cuts to the head.
"An off duty nurse was also at the scene. They were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for further treatment."
