Paul Simon has successfully undergone surgery for “chronic and intense back pain”.

The 83-year-old singer / songwriter was forced to cancel two concerts last weekend after his pain became “unmanageable” and while his surgery “went well”, he will need an extra day of rest and recuperation before he starts touring again.
