The New England Patriots hosted several free agents on Monday. Among them was quarterback Joshua Dobbs, per the NFL’s transaction wire.
He was drafted by the Steelers in the fourth round in 2017. He has spent the majority of his career in Pittsburgh. He did have a brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, but returned to the Steelers the following season.
He has not seen ample regular-season action. He has played in six games, going 10-of-17 for 45 yards and one interception. The Tennessee product has spent his career in a backup role.
While playing quarterback at Tennessee, Dobbs rushed for 2,160 yards and 32 touchdowns in four seasons in Knoxville. He would be able to give the Patriots a running weapon in the quarterback room.

As the Patriots look to add depth to their roster, Dobbs would be an intriguing fit. He would bring additional experience as well as a multi-faceted game to the quarterback room.
