Patriots get multiple key veterans back at practice

Fans can breathe a sigh of relief with multiple New England Patriots veterans returning to the practice field on Monday, ahead of joint practices and the team’s Week 3 preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Per Bob Socci, Hunter Henry, Kendrick Bourne, Trent Brown and Isaiah Wynn all returned to practice to kick-start the final week of preseason football.

Henry had been dealing with a minor injury, but there were some concerns that it might have been worse than initially reported, after the Patriots went out and signed rookie undrafted free agent Jalen Wydermyer.

So Henry’s return is a big win for a team that relied heavily on his connection with quarterback Mac Jones last season.

Bourne returning was also a nice surprise after he disappeared into a black hole, following an ejection for fighting during the Patriots’ joint practice session with the Carolina Panthers last week.

Meanwhile, Brown remains a significant part of the offensive line at left tackle, while Wynn returned on a day that he became the subject of trade rumors.

After losing rookie receiver Tyquan Thornton to a collarbone injury, the hope is that the Patriots can stay healthy the rest of the way before their season-opener against the Miami Dolphins on September 11.
