Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is not having the season many expected of him after his 2022 breakout, but he has a supporter in Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
While Fields is not at all responsible for all of Chicago’s issues in its two-loss start to the season, you can tell that he’s taken a bit of a step back from his promising sophomore season. Well, he can count Mahomes as someone in his corner.
While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Mahomes was reportedly asked what he’d tell Fields this season as he’s adapting in his career.
The Chiefs quarterback offered his full endorsement of Fields’ talent and said that he feels that Fields absolutely has a place in the NFL as a quarterback. He told the Bears starter to be the player that he’s always been.
“Trust your talent; trust your instincts,” Mahomes shared. “He’s here for a reason. He’s made a lot of big plays happen in the NFL and in college, wherever he’s been.”

It’s always awesome to see a player at the top of the sport like Mahomes offer words of encouragement for one of his fellow athletes, and we can bet that Fields will take these words to heart and appreciate Mahomes’ kind words.
Fields is only in his third season, so he’s got plenty of time to get things going in Chicago this year. At the least, he can count on the game’s best player feeling like he belongs.
