Patna: Job aspirants throng Ganga ghats for free coaching

PATNA: The riverfront area behind the Patna College has turned into a knowledge hub where hundreds of government job aspirants come from different parts of the country on every weekend to prepare for competitive exams. S K Jha, who conducts free classes between 6am and 7.30am for students preparing for banking, railway services and other government jobs, said he has a team of 15-16 teachers and 150 other staff who prepare the study materials, mock test, OMR sheets and answer keys for the job aspirants.

Youths from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Rajasthan gather at Kali ghat, Patna College ghat and Kadam ghat to study in groups, take their exams and collect study materials on every weekend without a miss. The images went viral after noted businessman Harsh Goenka shared them on his Twitter page. He wrote on April 4, “Kids in Patna, Bihar are preparing for competitive exams on the banks of river Ganga. It is a picture of hope and dreams (sic).”
