Patient Nearly Died After Surgeon Connected His Bowels to His Stomach in Shocking Surgical Blunder

A UK surgeon has been permanently removed from the medical register after a medical tribunal found that a failed emergency bowel operation left a patient with a life-threatening complication in which bowel contents were redirected back into his stomach.

The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) ruled that Dr. Yasser Adly Abdel Rahman's conduct during the 2020 procedure represented serious professional misconduct, after experts described the surgical mistake as "as bad as it gets" and incompatible with safe medical practice.
