Passengers ‘frustrated’ after Bristol Airport suspends flights for 14 hours

  • Bristol Airport's runway was closed from Friday evening until Saturday morning due to a defect, leading to widespread flight suspensions.
  • The closure, which lasted from approximately 6pm on Friday until 8am on Saturday, caused significant disruption, including cancellations and delays of up to 15 hours for some passengers.
  • Passengers reported “chaos” and “extremely frustrating” experiences, with many criticising the lack of clear communication from the airport and airlines.
  • One passenger, Sophie Brazier-Smith, described being boarded onto an easyJet flight before being disembarked an hour later, despite the airport having already suspended operations.
  • While flights have now resumed, the airport has warned of continued disruption, advising customers to check with their airlines for updated flight information.
