MUMBAI: Curators and groundsmen, it seems, are finally getting their due in Indian cricket. While the players enjoy all the spotlight, groundstaff too are now being recognized for their tireless efforts in toiling hard to ensure the smooth conduct of the game.
On Friday evening, Parsee Gymkhana felicitated its chief groundsman Nadim Memon, a former curator of the Wankhede Stadium, at its function to celebrate last season's success, which saw them clinch four championships. Memon, a former managing committee member of the Mumbai Cricket Association, can be credited for having worked on the outfields and wickets of many grounds in Mumbai.
