Parrot owner 'heartbroken' after foul-mouthed African grey Harold goes missing

The owner of a foul-mouthed African grey parrot has been left heartbroken after he escaped.

Paula Trippier had put Harold in his travel cage to take him away for the weekend, with her family. Unfortunately, he managed to get the door open and fly away.

Paula has been searching the area close to her home in Green Road, Ramsbottom, as well as the woods to the back of her home. However so far, her searches have proved unsuccessful.

"He comes to the caravan with us on the weekend in a travel cage and he's somehow loosened the door and got out," she said. "I'm heartbroken, I'm gutted.

"We live to the back of a wood, so we've been round there, we've had three different jackets on because of the weather. That's against us now because they don't fly in the rain."

Harold has been compared to Chanel (MEN)

Paula has owned Harold since he was just four months old and she said that "Tilly" (her daughter's name) and "f*** off" are among his favourite words and phrases. "He comes out with all sorts," she laughed. "His favourite one is 'Tilly' at the moment but he also 'ship ahoy', 'f off', he tells you to 'shut up', he tells the dogs to get out and asks you to give him a biscuit'.

"He is really friendly though so if people see him he'll probably go and sit on their shoulder."

After posting an appeal on the 'What's on in Ramsbottom' Facebook group, there have been more than 160 shares. However some comments have likened the situation to 'Chanel the African grey' - who became a viral sensation in the first lockdown.

Paula said: "You always do [get people commenting things like that]. I'm not even biting because What's On in Ramsbottom is horrendous anyway.

"He's a wild animal so if they want to come back, they come back, that's the problem."

If you find Harold, you can let Paula know here.
