Paris Hilton is 'proactive' and gets full body scan to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness

Paris Hilton took to Instagram on Monday to tell her followers about the importance of regular health check ups to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month and World Mental Health Day.

The stateside star, 41, revealed she had a full body scan to check for any health issues and opened up to her 20.5 million followers on the importance of regular checks. She also discussed the sadness she felt by her grandmother's death from breast cancer.

The fashionista shared six snaps as she dressed in navy surgical scrubs and tucked her locks under a New York Yankees hat while she posed in front of the medical machinery. The whole-body Prenuvo MRI scanning machine offers up radiation-free scans that can detect cancer early.

Paris also shared a video in which the doctors talked her through what was found on the scans.

She captioned her post: "Not only is it Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but today is also World Mental Health Day. My grandmother passed away from breast cancer and I miss her every single day.

"I can't stress how important it is for my mental health to make sure I'm being proactive and not reactive when it comes to my physical health."

The fashionista uploaded her scans on Instagram (Instagram)

She continued: "I went to @Prenuvo to get a full body scan and I was so impressed with their incredible technology and how fast I got my results! I encourage every single one of you to go get a scan and make sure you are taking care of yourselves #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #WorldMentalHealthDay"

And a number of fans and followers were quick to praise her actions and upload, with over 100,000 people liking the post in the first few hours. American presenter Katie Couric and YouTuber Jim Kwik were among those leaving positive messages in the comments section.

Paris shared a powerful message on her Instagram Stories (Instagram)

Doubling down on her public support for World Mental Health Day, Paris shared a snap on her Story in which she donned a t-shirt which had "SURVIVOR" printed on the back. She wrote: "Happy World Mental Health Day to all my survivor sisters and brothers.

"Advocating for change has allowed me to heal in such a profound way alongside you. We did not deserve to struggle in silence. I wanted to come on here and let you know #ISeeYouSurvivor."
