Day 2 concludes

Incredibly, badminton is continuing tonight, with France’s Meril Loquette getting a rise from the home crowd upon his entrance. He’ll face Liek Hou Cheah of Malaysia.

Home advantage didn’t help Djelika Diallo in the last of today’s taekwondo bouts (and the last medal event) of the day. She lost to Brazil’s Ana Carolina Silva de Moura.

With that win, Brazil have a firm grip on third place in gold medals with five. They’re fourth on total medals – China 25, GB 15, Italy 13, Brazil 12.

In women’s wheelchair basketball, Spain outscored China 15-7 in the third quarter to cut a 22-point deficit to 12, but China ran away in the fourth, outscoring Spain 18-4.

The day’s boccia action has concluded, so your last event of the day is the aforementioned badminton match. Tune in if you like. I’m out until tomorrow – thanks as always for following the world’s best athletes with us.

Miles Krajewski has pulled off a stunning win in badminton.

Facing the reigning Paralympic champion, Krishna Nagar of India, Krajewski won the first game 21-16 but fell behind by eight points in the second. He fought back to 16-16, gave up two points to fall behind 18-16, then took the last five points for the win.

Meanwhile, in tennis, Japan’s Momoko Ohtani and Saki Takamuro won the first-to-10-points third set to eliminate Dana Mathewson and Maylee Phelps.
