Parents are being urged to make sure their children receive the latest routine jabs protecting against diseases such as polio and measles. It comes after new data showed a drop in vaccination levels among youngsters.
New figures from NHS Digital, published on Thursday (September 29), show that vaccine coverage dropped in 13 out of 14 routine inoculation programmes for children up to five years old in England in 2021-2022. That is compared with the previous year's data.
Vaccine coverage is defined as the number of people immunised as a proportion of those eligible. Health officials said the disruption caused by the pandemic was likely to have led to a drop in vaccination rates.
