Parents outrage as football being 'ripped' from the community

Parents say they are "disgusted" after the council suspended a local football league from playing over a parking dispute.

The Blaguegate field on Liverpool Road is home to the Skelmersdale Junior Football League for its 11-a-side matches. In recent weeks parents have been using the car park adjacent to the field which is owned by JMO Sports Park.

After JMO who operates a state-of-the-art football centre next to Blaguegate field alerted the council of the capacity issue, this weeks games have been suspended until the issue can be resolved. The move has been met with strong resistance in the town and parents believe that the council is "ripping grassroots football straight out of the community".
