Parents cling to their children at theme park as rollercoaster breaks 20ft in the air

Parents could be seen clinging to their young children in horror after a rollercoaster broke down at a popular theme park.

Families were suspended 20ft in the air for 90 minutes due to the broken fairground ride, one eye witness said.

Children could be heard screaming across the park after the rollercoaster stopped on the tracks at Pleasureland in Southport, Merseyside on Saturday.
