Paramount+ series The Killing Kind being filmed in Bristol

A new mini-series for streaming service Paramount+ is being filmed in multiple locations in Bristol over the past week. It's said to be an adaption of a thriller novel and international bestseller The Killing Kind by renowned Irish crime writer Jane Casey.

The Killing Kind charts the story of London barrister, Ingrid Lewis, and her life after defending her client John Webster against a stalking charge. In the novel, he then turns on Ingrid, following her, ruining her relationship and even destroying her home - but he claims she is in grave danger.

Paramount+ was announced as the streaming service affiliated with the new series back in December last year with filming scheduled to begin in January 2023. The streaming service has been contacted for comment.

Eleventh Hour Films is making six 60-minute episodes with executive producers Paula Cuddy, Eve Gutierrez and Jill Green for Eleventh Hour Films, writer-director Zara Hayes, writer Jonathan AH Stewart and author Jane Casey. Andy Litvin is the producer and Zara Hayes is the lead director, directing the first three episodes, according to the news site, The Knowledge.

Various locations around Bristol have been transformed into London, with one Twitter user sharing a picture of a Transport for London number 23 bus heading to Liverpool Street coming down Avon Street in Bristol using rain machines. Other images show film crews set up on the street outside the city centre nightclub Basement 45.

Fan accounts for Colin Morgan, best known for his role in BBC show Merlin and blockbuster film Belfast, shared pictures of the actor alongside Emma Appleton (The Witcher, Everything I Know About Love). In one video shared last week, Morgan is filmed walking outside Bristol Cathedral on College Green. It is not yet known when the show will air on the steaming service.

The Killing Kind is one of many UK dramas commissioned by Paramount+, a relatively new streaming platform. The Flatshare, an adaptation of the novel by Beth O’Leary, was also filmed in Bristol across various locations and at the Bottle Yard Studios in early 2022, assisted by the Bristol Film Office.

It's not the first time that Bristol has doubled up for London recently as last week, Clifton was transformed into London to film series 14 of Doctor Who. Stars Anita Dobson and Millie Gibson were spotted on set after Frederick Place and Park Place were both closed for filming.
