Being that they brought Dicaprio Bootle up from their practice squad for three straight weeks, the Carolina Panthers had to make a decision on the young cornerback. So, they did on Tuesday.
As announced by the team late this afternoon, Bootle has been signed to the active roster. The 26-year-old was elevated up to the game-day roster for Weeks 3, 4 and 5—forcing Carolina’s hand, by league rule, to either ink him or place him on waivers.
Buy Panthers TicketsBootle first cracked into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021. He appeared in seven games under head coach Andy Reid between the 2021 and 2022 campaigns, totaling 11 tackles.
The Panthers came calling back on Sept. 11, when Bootle was signed to the practice squad. He played in each of the three games he was called upon for, registering all 56 of his snaps on special teams.
Carolina is now up to a complete 53-man active roster.
