The Cleveland Browns seem no closer to resolving the future of QB Baker Mayfield than the day they traded for Deshaun Watson to take his place. With the team’s offseason activities starting next week and the NFL draft following closely behind, time is not on the Browns side right now.
Neither is opportunity, it seems.
Mayfield asked to be traded to the Indianapolis Colts, they instead traded for Matt Ryan.
The Seattle Seahawks have been mentioned as a possible landing spot, including on his recent podcast appearance, but they just brought Geno Smith back to go along with Drew Lock.
That leaves the Carolina Panthers as the only team that hasn’t made a move at the quarterback position despite having a need this offseason. WR Robby Anderson clearly is not interested in Mayfield joining him there:

While the Seahawks could still be interesting in Mayfield and the Panthers may not care what Anderson thinks, it is interesting for a player to push back against another player like this publicly.
Anderson had his worst professional season in 2021 despite an extra game on the schedule with 53 receptions, 519 yards and five touchdowns. In his two seasons with the Panthers, Anderson’s yards per reception dropped to 11.5 and 9.8 following four straight seasons of 14.0 or higher.
Mayfield is likely to move on to another team but, at this point, it doesn’t seem like teams, and at least one player, are interested enough in him.
