Carolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer isn’t one to kick his feet up. In fact, he said exactly that in an interview with NFL Network’s Bridget Condon less than 24 hours ago.
So you know he and the rest of the organization’s braintrust weren’t going to sit idly by as the start of the 2022 NFL draft’s second round neared on Friday night.
According to CBS Sports senior NFL reporter Jonathan Jones, the Panthers are sniffing out ways to gain reentry into Day 2 of the draft.
Carolina is interested in getting in the Day 2 mix. Don't get the impression the Panthers are willing to part with any players to get a pick, so that basically leaves them with sending future pick(s) to get involved tonight.

This bit of news, while not exactly surprising, is particularly intriguing given the amount of quarterbacks remaining on the board. University of Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett was the only passer taken on Thursday night—leaving the likes of Malik Willis, Matt Corral and Desmond Ridder up for grabs to quarterback-needy squads.
One of those squads, of course, is Carolina. Now that they’ve secured one heck of a hog molly in Ikem Ekwonu with their first-round selection, maybe they’re prepared to nab themselves an arm tonight to put behind the big offensive lineman.
