Before he signed with the Carolina Panthers this summer—heck, before he was even a Tennessee Titan—running back D’Onta Foreman was cut by the Atlanta Falcons prior to the 2021 season. Oopsie!
On Thursday night, the fifth-year veteran paced his Panthers to a 25-15 victory over those very same Falcons. Foreman rushed for 130 yards (just two off his career-high) and a touchdown on 31 carries.
This hefty performance came just 11 days after he burned these birds in Week 8 for 118 yards and an actual career-high three touchdowns. So, when asked by Vashti Hurt of Carolina Blitz if he feels like he’s been overlooked (we’re looking at you, Atlanta), Foreman said this:
“Definitely. Definitely,” he replied. “Just early in my career—having ups and downs, injuries. I just feel like people counted me out and just said that I couldn’t do these things. I just stay focused. It was tough at times, like I’ve mentioned before. But when you get an opportunity like this, you can’t look back. You gotta just go. Just make the best of it.”
Well, he’s definitely made the best of it so far. Since becoming the featured back following the departure of Christian McCaffrey, Foreman has tallied 389 yards over four games.
He’s also made the best out of his chances against the Falcons—totaling 248 rushing yards and four scores against his former (and brief) employer.
But, in a bit of good news for Atlanta, they won’t be seeing Foreman again this season.
