The Carolina Panthers won’t have starting quarterback Bryce Young at their disposal on Sunday. So, with veteran Andy Dalton moving up to get the nod, they needed to move up a backup onto the depth chart.
That move was made on Saturday afternoon, as the team elevated quarterback Jake Luton from the practice squad for their Week 3 contest against the Seattle Seahawks.

The 6-foot-6, 224-pounder spent the summer with the Panthers, playing in two of the team’s three preseason outings. He connected on eight of his 19 throws for 115 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
The Panthers also elevated cornerback Dicaprio Bootle. Bootle, who has played in seven games over his pro career, was signed to the practice squad back on Sept. 11.
