It certainly didn’t take long for 2023 No. 1 pick Bryce Young to convince Panthers coach Frank Reich he is ready to start in Week 1 on the road against the Falcons.
On Wednesday, after just one practice, the former Heisman trophy winner was named “QB 1” for Carolina.
After beating out veteran signal-caller Andy Dalton for the job, Young said this will not change his daily preparation as he looks forward to mastering his role as a starting signal-caller at the next level.
“I want to do everything I can to play whatever role it is that I am called upon to do, and that means a lot and for me,” said Young. “It doesn’t change my approach and I will take things day-by-day … We are in this as a team ‘together’ and I want to do the best I can to master my role.”

According to reports, Young was impressive in his practice, showing a strong rapport with veteran wideout Adam Thielen on several throws. The former Alabama standout has displayed a solid grasp of Reich’s offense.

The Panthers have surrounded Young with a solid receiving corps consisting of Thielen and DJ Chark, as well as emerging third-year wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. who averaged an impressive 17.5 yards per reception last season.
