Pangaia’s new T-shirt collection is all about eco-optimism

You don’t need to be hugely into fashion to appreciate the power of a T-shirt. No piece of clothing can hold a candle to the ease of the throw-on, everyday piece.

T-shirts really are our daily dressing saviours – something we know we can slip on and feel ‘put together’ even when we stayed up too late doom-scrolling the night before.

In a market awash with motto-adorned and band tees, you may be looking for one that makes a statement - and what better statement is there than paying homage to our environment?

Enter: Pangaia’s new graphic tee collection that will leave you with a sense of eco-optimism.

Each piece in the new range has been designed to represent the brand’s global collective of scientists, technologists, and designers – and each genderless T-shirt aims to spread positive news and encourage optimism about Earth’s future.

The tees too are consciously made, using dye created from woodwork waste as an alternative to petroleum-derived carbon black.

Pangaia’s commitment to ecological awareness is evident in each tee in the collection, resulting in T-shirts you can wear proudly while also raising awareness about global conservation and restoration efforts.

The brand’s Forest Graphic T-shirt, for example, is the ultimate blend of design and purpose, stating: “A lone tree stands strong while a forest thrives – individuals united as one. Like them, we stand taller and stronger together”. The Forest tee is available in light purple or off-white and it is made from 100 per cent organic cotton and treated with peppermint oil for its anti-odour properties.

The Pangaia White Rhino Hope T-Shirt, on the other hand, has a design of white rhinos on the front, which celebrates the story of the first IVF rhino, spreading hope for the nearly extinct northern white rhino species.

Other tees in the collection include an octopus design that celebrates the discovery of four new octopus species in Costa Rica; and another with a mole maze design, highlighting the De Winton’s Golden Mole that was thought to have gone extinct in 1937 but was rediscovered in 2023.

Here are our top picks from the new collection.

Pangaia White Rhino Hope T-Shirt

Made from 100 per cent cotton and dyed using wood waste, this T-shirt celebrates the first-ever IVF rhino which took place in September 2023. Scientists used the fertility method to implant a northern white rhino embryo into a southern white rhino surrogate with the hope that this could save the species.

Pangaia New Octopus Hope T-Shirt

What’s cooler than discovering new life? This tee design conveys this feeling with an octopus illustration front and centre representing the discovery of four new species of the marine animal in Costa Rica.

Pangaia Elusive Mole Hope T-Shirt

With its mood-boosting sunshine yellow colourway, it’s no wonder this tee is all about hope. It highlights the De Winton’s Golden Mole that was declared ‘officially lost’ after it was last seen in 1937 - but was rediscovered in 2003 through environmental DNA tracking.
