Pandas depart China en route to Atlanta’s zoo for 10-year stay

A pair of giant pandas, Ping Ping and Fu Shuang, departed from Chengdu, China, on Sunday morning to begin a 10-year stay at Zoo Atlanta as part of a joint agreement between the Chinese and American governments.

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the arrival of the pandas during a summit in Washington with US President Donald Trump, framing the agreement as a demonstration of diplomatic goodwill.
