Pamela Anderson to ‘set record straight’ in new Netflix doc after Pam & Tommy controversy

Pamela Anderson has announced a new “intimate” Netflix documentary of her life in the wake of the hit Hulu series Pam & Tommy, which was made without her involvement.

The Baywatch actress, 54, took to her Instagram to announce the film would land on the streaming platform after years in the making.

Pamela shared a handwritten note on Netflix letterhead with a red lipstick kiss mark at the bottom, writing: “My life. A thousand imperfections. A million misperceptions. Wicked, wild and lost. Nothing to live up to. I can only surprise you. Not a victim, but a survivor. And alive to tell the real story.”

A Netflix tweet added that the film will “feature the pop culture icon setting the record straight as she looks back on her professional path and her personal journey”.

The documentary is currently untitled, but will feature exclusive access to Pamela as well as to her personal journals.

This comes after the blonde bombshell was portrayed by Lily James alongside Sebastian Stan in the role of her drummer ex-husband Tommy Lee in Pam & Tommy, which followed the fallout from the release of their stolen sex tape.

While Pamela has yet to comment on the series publicly, a source claimed she had no intentions of watching the series after turning down offers to consult on the production.

They told Entertainment Weekly: “I do know she'll never, never watch this. Not even years from now. Not even the trailer.”

Courtney Love last year claimed the existence of the show was causing Anderson “complex trauma”.

Actress Lily James confirmed she personally reached out to Pamela, saying: “I wish it had been different. My sole intention was to take care of the story and to play Pamela authentically.”

The EW source confirmed that the star had been contacted multiple times but wasn’t interested, unlike her ex-husband Mötley Crüe musician, who spoke to Sebastian Stan ahead of the project.

The source said: “Tommy doesn't get it. He's in the same mindset he was at the time: that any publicity is good publicity.”

The Hulu miniseries also starred Seth Rogen as Rand, a former employee who stole the tape, and Nick Offerman as adult film producer Milton Ingley, who Rand contacted to leak the tape.

The couple tried to prevent the tape's release by suing the distributor, Internet Entertainment Group, and a confidential settlement was eventually reached but the tape was still released publicly and became one of the first viral internet scandals.

The pair's relationship was tumultuous and they split in 1998 after having two sons together.
