Pamela Anderson has spoken out about her decision to go make-up free at Paris Fashion Week, adding she’s glad the move became a “positive message.”
The model and actress, 56, made headlines around the world for not wearing make-up at the Vivienne Westwood fashion show earlier this year.
She was praised for her decision - and for embracing her natural looks in her 50s.
Now the star has opened up about the move in an interview with PEOPLE.
“I'm makeup free at home, so why not for Paris Fashion Week?” she said. “I really didn't know anyone would notice it, but I'm glad it became a positive message."
The star - who this year released her memoir Love, Pamela and her docu-series Pamela: A Love Story - added: “I call if Life-ing, not aging. Chasing youth is futile. All we can do is embrace who we are at the moment we are in, and be okay with where our feet stand right now."
The former Baywatch star now lives in Vancouver Island where she is renovating a property she inherited from her grandmother. She raises her two sons, Brandon, 28, and Dylan, 25, who she shares with ex-husband Tommy Lee while her days are spent growing vegetables and meditating.
Speaking about her new way of life, she continued: “I don't have to be cool anymore. I can just be me. It's very freeing to be comfortable in your own skin."
Speaking earlier this year about her memoir and docuseries, Anderson said they had been therapeutic.
“Anderson has revealed that her recently released memoir and documentary were a “family project”, the creation of which was “very therapeutic”.
The 55-year-old Canadian model and actress, who rose to fame as the star of hit 90s drama series Baywatch, released Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story and autobiography Love, Pamela last week.
Speaking to The One Show via video link from Toronto, Anderson explained her sons’ involvement in her recent projects, saying: “Every day is a surprise, Brandon has just taken on everything, kind of as a family legacy project and said ‘Mum this is really important.
“‘I think your story is inspirational, I think you taking back the narrative is great and people would love it’.
“So it’s just been incredible to see how well spoken they are and how articulate they are about everything they’ve gone through. They didn’t have any easy childhood either, watching a divorce and different marriages.
“So to see them also put the pieces together for themselves, it was great for all of us. It was a family project.”
