For most people, a long soak leaves fingertips pruney after 10 minutes or more. For the 12 patients in a new Turkish case series, a minute or two under the tap was enough to make their palms erupt in swollen white bumps.
The rare condition, called aquagenic syringeal acrokeratoderma, has long been described as a disorder of young women. In this series, published in Turkderm - Turkish Archives of Dermatology and Venereology, two-thirds of the patients were male.
