Palace insiders use scathing Hollywood nickname for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Royal nicknames have always been a topic of interest throughout history, ranging from affectionate to wickedly entertaining.

And now, another 'cruel' and 'mocking' title has arisen within royal circles, according to one insider.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven't shied away from drama in recent months, from Harry releasing his tell-all memoir Spare at the start of the year to the royal couple's Netflix special airing at the end of 2022.

And due to their actions over the past few months, the couple - who reside in Montecito, California - have reportedly been dubbed 'the Kardashians' by some closest to those at the palace.

According to the Daily Mail’s diarist Richard Eden, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been given this unflattering moniker “in royal circles” thanks to “their appetite for accepting awards for themselves, talking about themselves, doing programmes about themselves".

Harry and Meghan last year took part in an interview with US talk show host Oprah Winfrey and claimed they had been mistreated by the royal family.

They also claimed a senior member of the family made racist comments concerning the colour of their unborn child's skin, while Meghan also said she felt suicidal while in her official role as a royal, reports news.com.

It led to the late Queen issuing an unprecedented statement, expressing her love for Harry and Meghan, with the caveat that “recollections may vary”.

Elsewhere, a friend of William’s recently ‘mocked’ the Sussexes’ New York car chase.

Referring to the confrontation the couple had with paparazzi, the royal source said: “William and Catherine have put up with s**t like this in the past. Everyone understands his anger at the photographers, but making hysterical statements doesn’t help matters, especially when, as the queen might have said, recollections may vary.

“I thought [the Sussexes] were leaving the royal family for a quieter life. If flashbulbs give Harry flashbacks, I don’t understand why he is going to award ceremonies.”

And now, the pair's relationship is also reportedly on the rocks, speaking to Dan Wootton, Royal Expert Paul Burrell claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are being held together by Harry's wish to keep their family together for the sake of their children, as writes the Scottish Daily Express.

Burrell said: "Am I the only person in the UK that is thinking, 'Has Harry finally woken up to the truth?'

"Has he finally seen the truth of what his wife is doing and that he's been brainwashed and mesmerised by her beauty or something, because we all know that but he doesn't seem to see it."

He added: "I personally know Harry and I think he's always wanted to be a father, he's always wanted children, I think this element of splitting from his family right now is a little premature, I think he would want to stay in that driving seat to watch his children grow because if he left this relationship now he'd lose his children because she'd keep them in America and he wouldn't see them."
