Pakistan's chief selector Wahab Riaz brutally trolled for dropping a simple catch - Watch

NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan fast bowler and current national chief selector Wahab Riaz faced criticism on Saturday for his poor fielding effort while playing for Pakistan in the 'World Championship of Legends' match against archrivals India in Birmingham on Saturday.

Riaz, who led the selection committee that picked Pakistan's squad for the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup held in the Americas, got brutally trolled by fans of Pakistan cricket for dropping a simple catch.

Chasing Pakistan Champions' mammoth total of 243/4, India Champions were struggling at 169 for 9, with Pakistan completing the formalities of a massive win. In the last over, bowled by Aamer Yamin, Anureet Singh hit the ball high into the air. Riaz got underneath it and had ample time to position himself but ended up spilling the catch.

Riaz, the current chief selector of Pakistan, looked disappointed after dropping the easy catch and faced heavy trolling for his poor effort on the field. Despite failing to bowl out India Champions, Pakistan Champions secured a significant 68-run victory over the Yuvraj Singh-led side.

WATCH:

The Pakistan Cricket Board appointed Riaz as the head of the selection committee in November last year, replacing the legendary Inzamam-ul-Haq, who stepped down amid allegations of a conflict of interest.

Under Riaz's tenure, Pakistan failed to progress to the Super 8s of the T20 World Cup. The Babar Azam-led side lost to co-hosts United States and India in the Group stage of the tournament.
