A biker who was killed in a tragic crash on a popular scenic lochside route has been named as Paisley man Andrew Jowett.
The 37-year-old was riding his blue Suzuki motorbike on the A82 north of Luss when the fatal collision occurred.
Police have now shared a photo of Andrew as they issue a re-appeal to help find witnesses following an earlier appeal in the immediate aftermath of the tragic incident.
They say that a white Skoda Scala was involved in the smash that cost Andrew his life on the northbound carriageway of the A82 north of Luss, Argyll and Bute around 6.40pm on Tuesday, June 13.
The drivers of a dark-coloured Volkswagen Touareg and a white Arnold Clark hire van are particularly being sought by cops, as they believe they could shed some light on the circumstances of the crash.
Following the incident, Andrew was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he later died.
A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Sergeant Brian Simpson, Dumbarton Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Andrew’s family and friends.
“Enquiries are ongoing into the crash and I am appealing for anyone not already spoken to by police who witnessed the crash or saw the two vehicles prior to the collision to get in touch.
“I am particularly keen to hear from the drivers of a dark-coloured Volkswagen Touareg and a white Arnold Clark hire van who were in the area at the time.
“It’s possible they may have information or have dash-cam footage that
will be of help to our investigation.”
Anyone with any information, including dash-cam footage, is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 3676 of June 13, 2023.
In the days following the crash, messages of tribute were posted on social media, with family members and friends of Andrew mourning the loss of a “one in a million” and “one of the happiest, most positive people”.
Andrew’s cousin Craig Jowett said: “It’s in our moments of silence we reflect on times we’ve had, memories we’ve shared and people we’ve lost.
“It’s hard to grip hold of the reality that you’ve gone. I’ve had a few days now to process and reflect and I still can’t understand why you were chosen to be taken away so soon.
“You won’t ever understand how much you are missed and loved. I’m so blessed to have known you, so sad to have lost you but so happy to have you as family. Missing you so much already.
“You will always be the big cousin I looked up to and wanted to follow. Andrew Jowett until we see each other again.”
Arran Paddy Green wrote: “Can’t believe I’m writing this, we were only laughing and joking and talking about our future the other day in mine and how good things are getting – now this.
“RIP Andrew Jowett you were one in a million, best dad, best guy and one
of the happiest, most
positive people I know. Gutted to think you’re gone and I won’t see ye again but until then.
“Fly high up there bro, love you.”
