Pair of callous Midlothian thieves caught stealing motorbike on garden camera

Two callous Midlothian thieves were caught on camera inspecting a motorbike before stealing it in the early hours of Monday September 12 morning.

The footage from around 1am on Monday morning shows two men, dressed in black with their hoods up, enter a garden in Dalkeith.

The prowling pair remove the cover from an orange and white KTM Duke 390, registration number FN18 TZH, before slowly inspecting the vehicle report the Record.

Both appear suddenly spooked and run behind a shed in the garden of the property in Suttieslea Park, Dalkeith, to avoid being seen.

When the cover is fully removed the pair again appear to hide from sight behind the shed. By this point the motorbike has been fully uncovered and remains in the garden.

Even with the motorbike securely chained with a padlock on the rear and a Oxford screamer disc lock on the front, the thieves still managed to move it. It is not yet known how they managed to break the lock as this was not caught on camera.

The footage has now been widely shared on social media, alongside a desperate plea from the owner who urged people to keep an eye out for his bike.

The man was waiting on officers from Police Scotland arriving after reporting his vehicle had been stolen in the early hours of the morning.

He captioned the first video: "Thieving wee b******* at 1am this morning stealing my bike. Waiting on the police arriving."

Posting a separate video, he later added: "Bike is a KTM Duke 390 Orange and white, reg no is FN18 TZH Stolen from Newtongrange."
