Padma Lakshmi has had many roles. Model, Top Chef host, producer and activist for starters. Now she can add designer to the already impressive list thanks to her new collaboration with Bare Necessities.
Padma x Bare Necessities marks the inclusive lingerie and swimwear retailer's first collaboration ever. Pretty impressive out of the gate since the collection is full of stunning pieces. Which makes sense since Lakshmi has always had a love affair with lingerie.
"Lingerie is such a personal, intimate part of one's wardrobe, and I've certainly gathered a lot of ideas for how I'd build a collection over the years," says Lakshmi. "I've modeled a lot of lingerie in my career, and I'm very particular about what works and what doesn't work. When Bare Necessities approached me with the idea, I thought this would be a fun, creative challenge. I wanted a nice mix of everyday staples, as well as a couple of pieces that felt a little dressier and sexy."
But it's not just lingerie. The collection also includes loungewear, swimsuits and cover-ups. To make sure the line suits all different sizes, Lakshmi worked closely with the Bare Necessities team.
"I designed a collection that I feel works on everybody, but I wanted to give special attention to women with a larger bust size," explains Lakshmi. "I hope the collection encourages women of all ages and sizes to feel sexy and feminine. Lingerie isn't just the purview of 20-somethings with perfect bodies. I feel more confident in my body today than I ever did when I was that age modeling lingerie."
