Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed is one of six nominees for FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Week for Week 1 of the 2024 season.
The other nominees are Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon and Los Angeles Chargers running back JK Dobbins.
Reed produced 171 total yards on five touches during the Packers’ Week 1 loss to the Eagles. He turned four catches into 138 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown, and his lone rushing attempt resulted in a 33-yard touchdown.
Reed’s 138 receiving yards led all players in Week 1. His 171 total yards trailed only Mixon, who had 178. Reed was one of eight players to score at least two touchdowns. Reed, Barkley and Xavier Worthy were the only players to catch a touchdown and run in a touchdown in Week 1.
Unlike past years, when different players were selected for both Air and Ground, the award is now decided by picking two of the top six for a given week.
From the award page:
“Players will no longer be restricted to solely winning the Air or Ground Awards. Beginning this season, fans can vote during each week of the regular season for the two players from a group of six who displayed the best offensive performance. The FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year Awards will be announced at the NFL Honors ceremony in New Orleans during the week of Super Bowl LIX.”
Packers fans can vote for Reed here.
Each week this year, FedEx will make donations of $2,000 in honor of the each winner to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the United States.
