Packers Wire staff predictions: Week 15 vs. Rams

The Green Bay Packers (5-8) will come out of the bye and face the struggling Los Angeles Rams (4-9) to open up the final four-game stretch of the 2022 season.

Can Matt LaFleur’s team build on a Week 13 win in Chicago and create the first winning streak in Green Bay since September?

Here’s how the staff at Packers Wire believes the Week 15 showdown against the Rams will go down:

Zach Kruse (6-7): Packers 24, Rams 13

The Packers are coming out of the bye, have a (mostly) healthy roster, will be playing in the cold at Lambeau Field and should have a firm grasp of the obvious: nothing short of a 4-0 finish to the 2022 season will get it done in terms of making a playoff run. The Rams have important injuries everywhere, can’t block anyone, are starting a quarterback who has been with the team for a week and will go into the contest with nothing to play for. The one issue: the Rams can stop the run, and running the ball is important in the cold. The Packers haven’t fared well against teams that can handle the run game. The guess here is that Baker Mayfield offers up a few turnovers to tip the scales Green Bay’s way.

Brandon Carwile (6-7): Packers 24, Rams 17

The Packers are fresh off a bye while the Rams are feeling revitalize coming off a last-second win over the Raiders thanks to some heroics from their new quarterback Baker Mayfield. This season hasn’t gone how either team has planned, but Green Bay can keep the playoff hopes alive if they keep winning. This week’s challenger is a tough Los Angeles team that will be missing some of their key players due to injury. Factor that in with temperatures in the teens at Lambeau Field and the Packers should have the advantage. I predict a strong performance Aaron Rodgers, who relishes the cold weather, and a couple of takeaways from the defense. Green Bay wins a hard-fought game to improve their postseason chances.

Paul Bretl (6-7): Packers 24, Rams 17

Before Green Bay even takes the field, they have a few things going in their favor as they are much healthier coming off the bye week and temperatures at Lambeau are expected to be quite cold. The Packers offense has been playing its best football over the last month but faces a Rams defense that has been very good at stopping the run. The Rams secondary, however, has been susceptible but when we’ve seen the Packers have to rely primarily on the passing game, the offense hasn’t been able to move the ball regularly. Of course, Aaron Donald’s availability will have a major impact on this game and the approach the Packers take, but I’m expecting a bit more pass heavy game plan this week. On defense, just don’t give up the big play. Force this struggling Rams offense to put together long scoring drives.

Brennen Rupp (6-7): Packers 20, Rams 17

A battle between two of the most disappointing teams of the season on Monday Night Football. Let’s go!

The Packers will likely have Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson together at the right time. The Rams are giving up four yards per carry against the run and could make life difficult on Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon. With Doubs and Watson back, I’m expecting a vintage Aaron Rodgers performance on prime time that will spark “run the table” talks. Give me the Packers by three at home to keep their playoff hopes alive.
