The Green Bay Packers filled the team’s practice squad on Tuesday by signing rookie linebacker Austin Ajiake.
The Packers had an open spot after signing defensive back Innis Gaines to the 53-man roster last Saturday. Gaines was released Monday. He was out of practice squad elevations, and the addition of Ajiake makes it unlikely Gaines returns.
After going undrafted out of UNLV, Ajiake spent most of August with the Denver Broncos and was briefly on the practice squad of the Las Vegas Raiders.
While with the Broncos, Ajiake played 58 defensive snaps and 27 special teams snaps over three preseason games.
Ajiake made 132 tackles and was a first-team All-Mountain West pick during the 2022 season. He participated in the Hula Bowl and East-West Shrine Game following his senior season.
Here’s Ajiake’s RAS card coming out of UNLV:
Austin Ajiake is a LB prospect in the 2023 draft class. He scored a 7.76 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 547 out of 2436 LB from 1987 to 2023. https://t.co/lFmc7keiiq #RAS pic.twitter.com/NCLbqcAI5f

Ajiake will wear No. 49 for the Packers. He joins rookie Christian Young as the two off-ball linebackers on the team’s practice squad currently.
