Owens Claims Parents Drove Lawsuit: Commentator disputes TPUSA role; family alleges UVU security failures

Candace Owens has reignited questions surrounding the wrongful death case linked to Charlie Kirk’s death, claiming that the lawsuit was driven by Kirk’s parents rather than Turning Point USA or his widow, Erika Kirk. Her post comes as Kirk’s family takes formal legal steps against Utah Valley University and the state of Utah, alleging that security failures at the campus contributed to his fatal shooting in September 2025.

Candace Owens claims Charlie Kirk’s parents pushed the lawsuit

Owens addressed the issue in a post on September 16, where she directly disputed what she described as attempts by Turning Point USA to take credit for the legal action.

She wrote:

“Since there is nothing that TPUSA won’t try to grift off of, I feel it’s important to state something that is true:

The wrongful death lawsuit was pushed by Charlie Kirk’s parents. They were the ones that wanted this justice for Charlie and they approached and convinced Erika to get behind it.

This is a fact.”
