At least six people were killed and 33 wounded in Kyiv after Russia launched an overnight missile barrage that damaged residential buildings and public facilities as explosions continued across the capital into Thursday morning.
In the Solomianskyi district, the upper two floors of a nine-storey residential building were destroyed, while fires broke out on other floors. People were also trapped inside two residential buildings and a school shelter.

The attack struck 12 locations across the Darnytskyi, Sviatoshynskyi and Solomianskyi districts, including a medical facility and an educational institution. Emergency workers rescued people from beneath the debris as the air raid alert continued into the early morning, according to the Associated Press (AP).
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the overnight assault combined ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones, killing 12 people in Kyiv and one more in the surrounding region, while leaving around 40 others injured. He said Ukraine still lacked sufficient anti-ballistic defences and warned that Patriot interceptors remained urgently needed.
