Outlander star Sam Heughan to release first autobiography

Sam Heughan delighted his fans yesterday by announcing that he will be releasing his new biography called 'Waypoints'.

The Outlander star took to Instagram to reveal the exciting news about his book, which will take readers on a journey as he hikes 100miles from his home to the base of the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis, and “attempt” to climb it.

Fitness fanatic Sam is no stranger to a challenge and is looking forward to sharing this new adventure with his followers.

Announcing the news to his 3.2 million followers, Sam wrote: "Ready to come on a journey with me?! So excited that my new biography “Waypoints” is available for preorder NOW! Join me as I hike 100miles from my home to the base of the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis and “attempt” to climb it.

"Along the journey I reflect on stories from my life, with personal insight plus my hopes, dreams and plans for the future. I can’t wait to share this personal journey with you.x Preorder available now: UK/US/Canada/AU/NZ www.samheughanbooks.com."

Sam's book will be published by Radar and will follow him along the West Highland Way to explore his life and reflect on the personal waypoints that define him.

He added: “Waypoints is a memoir with a difference. I wanted to tell the stories and share the experiences that have shaped me, but to do that I needed to challenge myself and spend some time in my own company, away from the distractions of everyday life. And for me there’s no better place to reflect than in the wild Scottish Highlands.”

Following the success of his Clanlands books with Graham McTavish, fans couldn't contain their excitement.

One wrote: "Your story is one of hard work and giving back and I’m sure it will encourage a lot of people!"

Another added: "Love this! Looking forward to an interesting read about you!"

While one said: "Oh Sam, you are a gem! I can't wait to read all about you and your life! Much love."

Back in June last year, the Outlander actor and his co-star Graham McTavish announced a follow-up to their incredibly popular Clandlands book.

The book, the Clanlands Almanac, much like their first book, follows their adventures around Scotland.

The two Scottish actors wrote their original book Clanlands as a companion to their hit show Men in Kilts, during the first lockdown after their were forced to take a break in filming.
