Sam Heughan took to Twitter to pen a sweet happy birthday message to Outlander co-star Caitriona Balfe.
The Scots actor took to social media to celebrate Caitriona's 43rd birthday, telling fans they will be spending it together on set in Cumbernauld. The two became fast friends since they were both cast as Jamie and Claire Fraser in 2014 as they share the same humour and witty banter.
Despite their cheeky and playful friendship, Sam, 42, took to Twitter to share a sweet happy birthday message to his on-screen wife. He said: "Happy Birthday Balfe! Wishing you a fun (wet) day on set! (Perhaps the horses will give you another birthday gift…x)"
The mother of one hasn't responded to Sam's sweet message yet, but an influx of fans were ready to celebrate her big day. One wrote: "Happy Birthday sweet Caitriona, may you have time to celebrate with friends and your loved ones. You are such an inspiration standing up for everyone around you as well as charities, women’s rights, those less fortunate and Ukraine. Thank you!"
"Happiest of happy birthdays to our favorite leading lady, Caitríona!!!," wrote another. A third penned: "I congratulate you dear Caitriona on your birthday, and wish you a wonderful day with your loved ones and your friends.. you are a great actress and committed and support so many aid organizations, you motivate so many people, thank you very much!"
This comes after Sam recently made another sweet post dedicated to his co-star. Sam retweeted a post shared by the drama's official Twitter account which read: "It's been nine years since we found our Claire and we've cherished her every day since. Happy casting anniversary to the incomparable @caitrionambalfe! #Outlander."
The Scottish actor then added his own words above, tweeting: "It's today!!!!! Congrats Balfe the OG Sassenach x." Caitriona herself then acknowledged the special day. The Belfast actor said on Twitter: "Wow. I can't believe it has been nine years.
"I guess time flies when you're having fun, getting to live your dream and spend it with an amazing group of people. As always thank you @Writer_DG for creating this incomparable character who has given me so much…"
Caitriona then went on to thank a number of other people involved in the Starz show including the production company, before adding: "What an amazing ride it has and continues to be …and of course … thanks to all the amazing fans who keep wanting more, so we get to continue this joyride!!!"
