Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen mourning loss of her faithful workmate and companion

Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen is mourning the loss of her sheepdog - and Our Yorkshire Farm co-star - Kate.

She described Kate as a "faithful workmate, companion, colleague and friend" in a Twitter tribute.

Amanda went to fetch Kate from her kennel yesterday morning, only to find that the dog had passed away during her sleep.

She shared a series of cute pictures of Kate, along with a touching snap of the two of them together.

Less than an hour before posting the sad news on Twitter, Amanda had posted a stunning video of the morning sunshine on the hills, she had captioned the post: "There's the morning [sunrise emoji] when you feel on top of the world!"

A follow up post read: "Then there's the other kind of mourning [praying hands emoji]. Where you go to get your faithful workmate, companion, colleague & friend from her kennel. Only to find that she has passed away in her sleep. [dog emoji] Kate .that'll do [crying emoji]."

Fans and followers were quick to share their condolences and sympathies with Amanda, sharing their own photos and stories of dogs that they had lost.

Tricia said: "So very sorry for your loss. I lost my English Springer Spaniel earlier this year.

"He, Alfie, was 14 years old (1 month of 15)! Best wishes and take care of yourself."

Last month, it was exclusively reported by the Mirror that the hit Channel 5 show will be replaced by new series Beyond The Yorkshire Farm: Reuben & Clive, featuring farmer Clive Owen alongside his eldest son.

Millions of viewers have emjoyed watching Clive and wife Amanda raise their nine children over five series of the hit show, which first aired in 2018.

However, the future of the programme was thrown into doubt when the couple announced their separation after 21 years of marriage this summer.

Now a brand new series, from the same production company, will follow Clive and Reuben, 18, as they travel beyond their remote hill farm in the Yorkshire Dale to launch a digging business venture together, involving groundwork and plant hire.

Launching on December 6, viewers will see how the teenager’s unconventional childhood has prepared him for adult life, as the cameras chart the highs and lows of Reuben’s first year in business and watch dad Clive, best mate Tom and girlfriend Sarah join him on this big journey.

Channel 5 confirmed that Our Yorkshire Farm following Amanda, Clive and their brood on Ravenseat Farm will not return.

It became the channel’s highest rating factual show for its heart-warming and refreshingly honest portrayal of family life in the countryside.

C5 factual boss Daniel Pearl said: "The Owens have become everyone’s favourite farming family and millions have enjoyed watching their unique way of life. It’s fantastic that we can now all follow Reuben and Clive on their next adventure.”

Other projects with Amanda and other members of the clan are also in the pipeline. Pearl added: “We remain absolutely committed to the whole wonderful Owen family and hope to announce new projects with Amanda very soon.”
