Our Liverpool: Single's night confession as sun sets on January

Hello and welcome to this week's first instalment of Our Liverpool.

In this twice daily round-up, we'll be showcasing some of the best ECHO content and some of the stories we have been most excited to tell. The last weekend of January is finally out of the way as people across Merseyside are looking forward to the arrival of the new month.

The onset of February indicates a time of celebration as people can enjoy a well deserved indulgence after completing Dry January or congratulate themselves for following through with any New Year's resolutions. Today's round up focuses on some of my favourite ECHO stories from over the weekend to reflect the positive spirit a new month brings.

What a singles night is really like

ECHO writer, Gemma Jones, has shared her experience of the dating scene for anyone who is looking to find love in 2023. Gemma attended a single's night at Leaf on Bold Street and spoke about how she was "surprised" by the experience. You can read the fully story here.

Brookside actor you may not recognise

Brookside fever has well and truly returned on Merseyside. ECHO writers have been catching up with some of the people who played a part in the show as the original episodes prepare to arrive on STV player. I spoke to Chris Bebbington, who spoke about what it was like to appear on the show's most famous moments.

Chris worked as an extra in his youth and the 44-year-old partied at Mick Johnson's stag do, was called to arrest Anthony Murray and has even been in jail with Tim "Tinhead" O'Leary. You can read the full story here.

Lost nightclub attended by the stars

Continuing the theme of nostalgia, Jess Molyneux has taken a look back at a lost Liverpool venue. The PlayGround club, on Thomas Steers Way, was launched by George Panayiotou in December 2011 and quickly become a nightspot of choice for celebrities and local clubbers. The exclusive club was a favourite of Liverpool celebs, including Coleen Rooney, Danielle Lloyd - who had her hen party there - and Alex Gerrard when it opened.

However, the club was also hit by a number of scandals before it eventually shut its doors. You can read the full the full story here.
